Requirements for special immigrant juvenile status include, the petitioner must be under 21 years of age and unmarried, declared dependent of a juvenile court, deemed eligible by that court for long-term foster care due to abuse, neglect, or abandonment and a determination in the juvenile proceeding that it would not be in the child's best interest to return to his/her or parent's previous country of nationality.
