The 5840 supports up to 12 Mbps of bandwidth by using RFC1990-compliant Multilink Point-to-Point Protocol (MLPPP) to bond multiple T1 or E1 links into a higher-speed virtual connection and, because the addition of bandwidth is handled through software in the device the 5840 provides the ability to instantly scale as business conditions dictate.
