A total of 11 organizations have participated in these summits: ALACE, Lamaze[TM] International, Academy of Certified Birth Educators, American Academy of Husband-Coached Childbirth, HypnoBirthing Institute, Birthworks, Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association, Healthy Dimensions, Council of Childbirth Educators, Prepared Childbirth Educators, and International Childbirth Education Association.
Their annual conference this year was unique in having an "action agenda" format, and in bringing together the heads of all the major childbirth education organizations: Jay Hathaway, founder of the American Academy of Husband-coached Childbirth (Bradley Method); Sandra DeStaffany, President of ICEA; Cathy Daub, founder of Birthworks; Judith Lothian, President of ASPO; and myself representing IH/IIBP and ALACE.
