Although a trend associating MUC4 expression with well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma has been suggested, little information is available correlating MUC4 expression patterns with clinical outcomes in NSCLC.
Our own pathologic analysis confirmed that this tumor was a well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma.
It is possible that the differences of staining patterns seen with Raf-1 and ERK-1/ERK-2 could be used to help separate verrucous carcinoma and well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma on small biopsies.
