Possible Problems

• You didn't enter an acronym or abbreviation to search for
• You have entered our site through an outdated link
• You have entered a disallowed character:  @, #, $, %, ^, *, ?, [, ], '
• You are attempting a reverse lookup (keyword) search with fewer than 3 characters

External search submissions

Note: externally submitted searches must comply with our terms of use. Do not attempt to display the Acronym Finder Results page in a frame within your site. Use the entire frame (target="_top") or a new/different browser window (target="_blank").

Do not extract data from the results page for use in a metasearch or other application. We reserve the right to reject externally submitted searches from your form/site which violate our terms of use.

If it's important to frame results from the Acronym Finder, please contact us about developing a custom (and frame-able) results page. We can do this for a reasonable one-time setup fee, and can provide other custom features. For a monthly fee (depending on traffic), you can have an ad-free page or use the page for your own ads.

To search the Acronym Finder from your own form, you must specify an acronym to search for using one of the following conventions.

Default search. A valid URL for externally accessing Acronym Finder to look up an acronym's or abbreviation's meaning is:

where AAA is the acronym to search for. This search uses the default search option acronym begins with. You can read about this and other search options on the search tips page. 

Exact acronym search. To submit a query for an exact acronym option use this URL:
