Now you can quickly and easily perform an Acronym Finder search while viewing any page on the web!
To start using this, all you have to do is install a small file that makes a minor change to your Windows registry. You must be using a later version of Microsoft Windows Internet Explorer (version 4.0 or greater; Windows only) and you must have JavaScript enabled (this is the default). Installing. To install this new feature in IE, follow these simple steps (this takes less than a minute, from start to finish):
Using it. Highlight the text of an acronym and abbreviation in your browser window, then right-click the selection. You should see a menu similar to the one in the image above. Click Acronym Finder lookup... and Acronym Finder will show the results of your search. You can also double-click the acronym or abbreviation to select it. Even if you get a leading or trailing space in your selected text, the Acronym Finder lookup... will still work. If you don't select any text and click on the menu item, you'll be taken to the Acronym Finder main page. Uninstalling. There's no harm in leaving this menu item installed, but if you ever want to uninstall it, just click here, choose Open (or Run) then click Yes when asked if you want to add information to the registry. Then you will need to close all instances of Internet Explorer, and then reopen IE to see that the menu item has been removed. Please see this link for other ways to link to the Acronym Finder. |
