More and more confirmed cases are being reported from across the world and this has the WHO extremely worried about the situation which has increased its pandemic alert phase to ''phase 5.
Just hours after the World Health Organisation (WHO) announced the first pandemic in 40 years, health officials went into emergency talks on moving from the "contain" to the "sustain" alert phase.
He said the alert phases were developed before the outbreak hit, and now need to be adjusted to the reality of the situation.
The first three WHO pandemic alert phases are triggered by the emergence of a new flu virus that jumps from animals into humans.
However, the WHO has yet not caused the pandemic alert phase.
Experts say more information is needed before making a decision on a possible change to the WHO's pandemic alert phase, which is currently at level three on a scale of one to six.
Though the WHO has not yet raised the pandemic alert phase, it declared Swine Influenza a public health emergency following human cases of Swine Influenza A (H1N1) caused by a re-assorted Swine Flu virus being noticed in Mexico from where it has spread to the US, Canada and also suspected cases being reported from New Zealand, Spain, France and the UK.
Next comes the alert phase, informing Cubans that a hurricane hit is probable and to prepare for possible evacuation.
