It has been widely deployed in Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (W-CDMA) and CDMA2000 handsets, and is also regarded as a preferred data solution for TD-SCDMA handsets.
WCDMA, or Wideband Code Division Multiple Access, promises data speeds of about 2 megabits per second, which is more than 13 times faster than AT&T Wireless's current high-speed network that allows customers to check e-mail, surf the Web and download applications.
Using Windows CE as the base operating system, the terminals will be handheld PCs, and later wideband code division multiple access (W-CDMA) mobile phones, which are due to be available in March 2001.
The project marks the first time that an integrated active antenna solu-tion has been used on a commer-cial mobile wideband code division multiple access (WCDMA) telecommunications network.
