Veritas called the acquisition a "strategic addition to our portfolio of high availability software" and said it would use the technology in combination with its Veritas Cluster Server product.
Symantec continues to extend our commitment and partnership with Red Hat and we look forward to offering Veritas Storage Foundation and Veritas Cluster Server with Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization," said Josh Kahn, Vice President of Product Management, Storage and Availability Management Group, Symantec.
Symantec also leverages Veritas Storage Foundation for Windows and Veritas Cluster Server to manage this backup storage.
In addition, Veritas Cluster Server introduces new features designed to improve manageability.
Shared nothing clusters can be implemented on Windows or Unix systems using products like VERITAS Cluster Server or Microsoft Cluster Server.
