XANES detection methods and analysis Background Total electron yield (TEY) has been used to investigate the L-edge XANES of low-Z elements (<300 eV, X-ray region) in thin films, including tribofilms, for many years.
The chemistry of antiwear films has been studied extensively with conventional XPS surface techniques and using synchrotron sources on the phosphorus L-edge and K-edge XANES, using total electron yield (TEY) and fluorescence yield (FY) (4-6).
Si K-edge XAFS of SiO, the silicon nanowires film condensed on the three different substrates, the residue of the starting material (henceforth denoted SiO-residue), as well as the three standards, were recorded in total electron yield (TEY) and fluorescence yield (FLY) at the DCM beamline of the Canadian Synchrotron Radiation Facility (CSRF) at the Synchrotron Radiation Center, University of Wisconsin, Madison (800 MeV, ~250 mA injection current).
