The work to be performed provides for partial design packages; total design packages; design-build request for proposal packages; repairs and alterations to existing facilities, collateral equipment lists; project preliminary hazard analysis; obtaining permits and regulatory approvals; surveys (topographic and boundary); soil investigations, comprehensive interior design; contractor submittal review; construction inspection, observation and consultation; operation and maintenance support information; environmental assessments; fire protection; anti-terrorism/force protection evaluation and design; designs for phased construction; and as-built drawing preparation.

Thirteen of the third party developers have now completed their due diligence, and several have signed off on designs and completed their soil investigations, with many expected to commence construction work later this year.

Prior to the groundbreaking, SHGC has completed the soil investigation in addition to the early phases of excavation and construction of site office.

With the soil investigation at the site already completed, the piling contractor has started the excavation, drilling, shoring and foundation works, and has announced a target of three months to finish the entire project.

Prior to Circular Facilities' purchase of the site, the previous owner had commissioned a soil investigation report which revealed the presence of black organic matter and gases bubbling through the groundwater.

The month-long survey has been commissioned by South Tyneside Council and is being undertaken by soil investigation firm, Norwest Holst of Leeds.
