The pacemaker of the heart is called sinoatrial node.
The trigger for the atrium to contract is an electrical signal sent from what is known as the Sinoatrial Node (or SV Node).
All of the muscle fibres within the heart can contract of their own accord, however, the sinoatrial node usually dominates, ensuring this doesn't happen.
Such a signal starts in a small bundle of highly specialized cells in the right atrium--the sinoatrial node (SA node), also called the sinus node.
In a normally working heart this impulse is generated by the sinoatrial node (SA node) which is located in the right atrium.
