The Islamization of Mathematics follows from the Islamic Mathematics Research Program (IMRP), which is a component of the Islamic Science Research Program (ISRP) sketched out in my "Three Meanings of Islamic Science: Toward Operationalizing Islamization of Science," in Islam & Science (Summer 2007), 23-52; and "Islamic Science as a Scientific Research Program: Conceptual and Pragmatic Issues," in Islam & Science (Summer 2005), 93-101.
Featuring studies of undergraduate science research programs from a variety of institutions around the country, it provides detailed qualitative and quantitative descriptions of the nature and benefits to college students of participating in research; descriptions of the post baccalaureate outcomes of such participation; and faculty and mentors' perspectives on students' gains, gender differences, and drawing students into science.
