School Mathematics Study Group [SMSG], Physical Science Study Committee [PSSC], and the Biological Sciences Curriculum Study [BSCS]) almost 40 years ago.
Examples of such policies include the development of the School Mathematics Study Group and the "new math" curriculum of the 1960's, the development of mathematics curriculum in the 1990's, the NCTM Standards documents in 1989 and 2000 as well as various states' development of academic content standards, and the ESEA legislation in 1965 and again in 2002 (Hirsch, 2007).
