com In 1906 in New York City one Pierpont Morgan built a private library intended to rival Europe's finest art collections: it became a public library in 1944 and in 2006 saw a major expansion and renovation designed by the Renzo Piano Building Workshop.
The design, developed by the Renzo Piano Building Workshop in collaboration with the museum, will dramatically transform LACMA by creating new exhibition galleries, public spaces, and gardens, as well as a new building devoted to exhibiting contemporary art.
Since joining Sciame 11 years ago, he has been responsible for numerous successful institutional, commercial and residential projects including most recently the $100 million Pierpont Morgan Library designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop which opened to the public in April 2006.

He also heads the design team for The New York Times Building, in association with Renzo Piano Building Workshop, and is designing a number of new residential towers in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and on Manhattan's West Side.
