Scott Samuelsen, director of National Fuel Cell Research Center at the University of California, Irvine, said: "The advances that have been made by the automobile manufacturers are remarkable .
In April 2002, the National Fuel Cell Research Center launched the ZEVNET (Zero Emission Vehicle Network Enabled Transport) program using Toyota's RAV4 fully electric vehicles in a demonstration program that continues today.
The shift to a hydrogen economy is not an incremental change to society, but rather a dramatic and fundamental shift in the way that individuals will operate their vehicles in the future," said Scott Samuelsen, director of UCI's National Fuel Cell Research Center (NFCRC).
The School consists of five departments: biomedical engineering, chemical engineering and materials science, civil and environmental engineering, electrical engineering and computer science, and mechanical and aerospace engineering; and is home to numerous research centers, including the Integrated Nanosystems Research Facility, the National Fuel Cell Research Center, and the Center for Pervasive Communications and Computing.
