Originally published 1st Quarter 2004 In 1986, Congress passed the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986 (the Vaccine Act), recognizing that "[v]accination of children against deadly, disabling, but preventable infectious diseases has been one of the most spectacularly effective public health initiatives this country has ever undertaken.
The National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986 created a no-fault compensation alternative to suing vaccine manufacturers when certain vaccines cause injury or death.
The National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986 provided for the establishment of the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program.
