One of these is Modified Newtonian Dynamics (MOND), which was hypothesized in 1983 by Moti Milgrom a physicist at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel.
Accordingly, (i) the fate of the dark matter particle(s) theories as well as (ii) the fate of their competing theories of modified Newtonian dynamics (MOND ) are likely to follow the fate of the eighteenth century phlogiston theory and the nineteenth century luminiferous ether theory, which were initiated as ad hoc postulates and which, subsequently, became obsolete.
In an alternative theory, called modified Newtonian dynamics, or MOND, forces such as gravity would produce small accelerations in addition to that which standard Newtonian physics predicts.
