Next month they head off on the "Priest Feast" European tour, with Judas Priest and Megadeth.

Today its artist roster is stacked with names as multi-generational as Hellyeah, Mountain, Megadeth, KoRn, Rihanna, Dashboard Confessional, and Gladys Knight and the Pips.

Held from Friday to Sunday at The Palladium in Worcester, Metalfest drew in titans of the heavy-metal genre such as Megadeth and Ministry, welcomed various travelers from abroad - including the entire crew of the Finnish-led Paganfest - and reiterated the potency of homegrown metal via a transcendent set by Massachusetts' own The Acacia Strain.

The UK leg of the tour is part of Gigantour UK 2008, an annual six-week travelling heavy metal music festival organised by Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine.

Dave Mustaine departed to form Megadeth and was replaced by Kirk Hammett.
