What does LDD stand for?

While diversification of the farming community is being encouraged and supported by central government planning policies in Regional Spatial Strategies (RSS), and Local Development Documents (LDPs) should facilitate and promote sustainable patterns of development and sustainable communities in rural areas, one of the biggest issues facing today's rural community is the provision of affordable homes when set against the growing second homes market.

The local authority will only be able to levy CIL if it is based on an up to date adopted development strategy for the area in which they propose to charge, and following consultation and review in a similar manner as for Local Development Documents.

Local authorities should have policies set out in local development documents, and these should be supported by a strategic housing market assessment for the area.

Local Plans will be replaced by Local Development Schemes; comprising Local Development Documents and Development Plan Documents.
