PARIS: An exhibition highlighting Bahrain's legendary pearls was inaugurated at the Paris-based Institut du Monde Arabe (IMA) yesterday.

LIGHTDESIGN has planned the lighting of museums, opera houses, city halls and office buildings including the National Gallery in Berlin, the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris and many of the temples, tombs and pyramids in Egypt.

Rather than concentrating on one dynasty or one Pharaoh, the exciting exhibition Pharaoh at the Institut du Monde Arabe (IMA) in Paris brings together several dynasties, thus giving a broad view of Pharaohs in general.

Nouvel also designed Paris' Institut du Monde Arabe, with its remarkable shuttered windows that open and close like the iris of an eye depending on the amount of light outside.

The Institut du Monde Arabe (Paris) will continue with its exploration of the numerous aspects of Arab contemporary, art, still largely unknown.

Other top firms include the Coop Himmelblau, led by the Viennese Wolf Prix, who has been given the Omnilife entertainment complex; Parisian Jean Nouvel, whose Institut du Monde Arabe is Paris's latest must-see building, is designing the company headquarters; Toyo Ito of Japan, who is working on the art museum: and Mexican Enrique Norten, Vergara's project coordinator and site planner, and designer of the elliptically domed Omnilife convention center.
