Curative Surgery for Recurrent Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma via the Infratemporal Fossa Approach Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is treated primarily by radiation therapy and concomitant chemotherapy.

These sites include the middle ear, mastoid, ear canal, oral cavity, paranasal sinuses and infratemporal fossa.

The entire parotid gland, surrounding facial musculature, and soft tissue of the infratemporal fossa are included in the tumor resection.
