After their last class Thursday, some students submitted applications to the University of Oregon, some to Lane Community College and some to the university's High School Equivalency Program.
In addition, the college has received a second federal grant, expected to total more than $2 million over five years, to help migrant and seasonal farm workers obtain diplomas through the High School Equivalency Program.
But organizers of the Cleghorn Neighborhood Center's Spanish High School Equivalency program stepped in to help her, as they have for more than 56 adult students in the Fitchburg and Leominster area.
The protest coincided with the presence of Mexican government representatives who were at the High School Equivalency Program building on the University of Oregon campus to assist people seeking a matricula consular - Mexico's identification card.
