NCQA also has added a drill-down feature to its nationally recognized, online Health Plan Report Card.
Plans that meet the standards in any or all of the three Quality Plus content areas will be recognized on NCQAs Health Plan Report Card, available at www.
The Health Plan Report Card rates about half the 650 health maintenance organizations in the United States covering about 75% of all HMO enrollees.
To bring a quality factor into the evaluation process, the ETF introduced health plan report cards, which * give participants comparative data upon which to base their health plan selection, * educate participants on how to be astute health care consumers, * enhance constructive competition among health plans, and * help ETF and the Board to better assess and monitor the quality of care and services being provided.
Funded by the Agency for Health Care Policy Research (AHCPR), the Scorecard Project tested various formats for health plan report cards in the Oregon Medicaid population.
The upgraded version of HEDIS is actually being developed to define the set of performance measures that will be used in the health plan report cards.
Much of the data from the report is used in NCQA's new Health Plan Report Card, which allows consumers to compare health plans based on NCQA Accreditation results and HEDIS quality scores.
