Since graduating from Vancouver's Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design, in 1993, Shearer has worked simultaneously on discrete but interrelated bodies of works that collide the often debased, and sometimes deviant, mannerisms of adolescent cultural forms with the utopian aesthetics and desires of modernism.
