Barney's independent films, which are highly visual and incorporate fine art works into the stills, include the Cremaster Cycle and, most recently, Drawing Restraint 9, which features Icelandic singer songwriter, Bjork, Barney's long time partner.

Drawing Restraint 9 was shot in Nagasaki Bay on board the Japanese whaling ship Nisshin Maru.

Alas, there is no Dadaist humour in Drawing Restraint 9, the film that coincides with this show in which Barney and his real-life wife, Bjork, set sail on a Japanese whaling vessel and, after flaying each other's thighs in a quasi-sexual ceremony, turn into something like whales.

The Drawing Restraint 9 soundtrack is released by One Little Indian on Monday.

Barney's 2005 film Drawing Restraint 9, on which most of the works are in some way parasitic, portrays the two of them dismembering one another in a deathly consummation of love aboard a whaling ship.
