While the first two enduringly popular and cultural impacting characters from the DC universe were Batman and Superman, the roster of 'super heroes' was a long one and included such pop culture icons (some of whom were drawn from the pulp magazines) included The Shadow, The Flash, Captain Marvel, Wonder Woman, and Hawkman.
