What does CSP stand for?

This contract renewal, which extends through 2006, continues a relationship that began in 1994, when Microsoft and SPYRUS first collaborated to provide security solutions for previous versions of the Defense Message System, as well as to bring a number of robust security solutions to market such as Crypto Service Provider for Microsoft Authenticode, and smart token products for secure log-on and single sign-on.

Among them are Messaging Security Protocol (MSP) for Defense Messaging System (DMS) in Exchange, Outlook and Outlook Express, Crypto Service Provider (CSP) for Authenticode, Technical Demonstration Program (TDP) for the UK Government showing e-mail and PKI interoperability, smart token products for secure logon and single sign-on and, most recently, S/MIME Labeling for policy-driven secure e-mail.

The software is based on Diffie-Hellman and the Digital Signature Standard (DSS) public-key cryptography, and is implemented as a Crypto Service Provider for Microsoft's CryptoAPI architecture.
