The Prince of Wales Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change, which was run by the University of Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership, had launched the initiative, which already had 727 signatories.
The companies, all members of The Prince of Wales's Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change, said they saw their own business opportunities in being at the head of a green revolution, but wanted regulatory certainty to help them plan their investments better.
The Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change (CLGCC), which counts tech companies Sun Microsystems and Cisco among its 13 members, has been keen to promote the findings of its most recent report into what legislative and technological initiatives are needed to help reduce carbon emissions.
The Copenhagen Communique on Climate Change was launched by the Prince of Wales's Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change, which is convened by the University of Cambridge Programme for Sustainability Leadership.
In letters to the three major party leaders, the Prince of Wales's UK Corporate Leaders Group on Climate Change demanded "transformational change" across the economy to meet the threats posed by global warming.
