What does Cmp. Mat. Sci. stand for?

Anter El-Azab, an associate professor in the Department of Scientific Computing, and his Computational Materials Science Group at Florida State will conduct research as part of a new $10 million EFRC Center for Materials Science of Nuclear Fuels.

The volume's 44 paper, which have not necessarily been edited or reviewed by conference organizers, are presented in sections on applicable computing technologies in heat treating; computational thermodynamics and kinetics; global innovations in photovoltaics and thermoelectrics; manufacturing issues in fuel cells; materials in clean coal technologies, hydrogen based technologies, and fuel cells; progress in computational materials science and engineering education; production and recycling of solar cell silicon; and synergies of computational and experimental materials science.

The many contributors, from Denmark, Germany, UK, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Japan, the People's Republic of China, Singapore, Taiwan, USA, New Zealand and Australia present a wide range of topics including: nanomaterials, thin films and coatings, metals and alloys, composite materials, materials processing and characterization, biomaterials and biomechanics, and computational materials science and simulation.
