What does CBC stand for?

The project has three principle thrusts initially to empower, organise and boost the capacity of local communities to conserve biodiversity at an ecological landscape level followed by enhancing the relative values of wildlife resources by promoting their sustainable use and finally to create a proper policy, legislation and financial framework for community based conservation.

The communique also calls for greater local, regional and international effort and collaboration in: * researching such things as shark behaviour, life-history biology, genetics and ecological interactions with and dependencies on the physical and bio-geochemical environment; and * whale shark conservation, including wildlife and habitat protection agreements, fisheries monitoring and management programs, education, community based conservation projects, and economic feasibility studies.
