The Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna decided at its annual meeting held in Auckland, New Zealand, to introduce the system which will stipulate that all fishermen from its nine member countries and regions attach such certificates to verify that tuna going to market has been caught within each member's designated fishing quota, the agency said.
In October, the Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna agreed at a meeting in Miyazaki, Japan, to reduce the global catch of the endangered southern bluefin tuna by more than 20 percent in 2007.

The Commission for the Conservation of Southern Bluefin Tuna (CCSBT) -- comprising Australia, New Zealand and Japan -- agreed during annual talks in Canberra last week to implement the scheme in June next year, meaning the origin of every southern bluefin tuna sold in Japan will be recorded.
