What does CGI stand for?

Efficacy outcome measures that were assessed at the beginning of the investigation and after 90 and 180 days of treatment included scores of the Alzheimer's Disease Assessment Scale-Cognitive Subscale (ADAS-Cog), the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), the Global Deterioration Scale (GDS), the Alzheimer's Disease Assessment Scale-Behavioral Subscale (ADAS-Behav), all items of the Alzheimer's Disease Assessment Scale (ADAS-Total), and the Clinical Global Impression (CGI) scale.

A clinician unaware of the herbal intervention recorded scores of 2 (much improved) for the boys on the Clinical Global Impression of improvement score (compares current symptom severity to baseline severity).

The study investigators and patient clinical global impression on the treatment group were superior compared to placebo.

The primary outcome measure was the ADCS version of the Clinical Global Impression of Change Scale (CGIC).

Statistically significant improvements over placebo were also observed on some secondary endpoints, including the investigator-rated clinical global impression of improvement scale (CGI-I), which achieved statistical significance for each of the 600 mg, 900 mg and 1200 mg dosing cohorts.

The effect size for the Clinical Global Impression of Change (CGI-CH) was calculated separately.

The Clinical Global Impression Improvement Scale also was used at weeks 4 and 8 to evaluate whether global impairment worsened, remained steady, or improved.

The primary measure of efficacy was a Clinical Global Impression improvement rating of 1 or 2 (much or very much improved).
