Both electrospray ionization (ESI) and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) are being investigated as a means to generate the alkanethiols as gas-phase ions for detection by mass spectrometry.
Dual 200 L/sec turbo pumps are said to provide increased sensitivity and column flow capacity, showing two times the sensitivity for octafluoronapthalene (OFN) and triple the sensitivity in electron impact (EI) and negative chemical ionization (NCI) modes over the original.
The SQ detector features ESCi ionization switching for atmospheric pressure chemical ionization and electrospray ionization in the same run and a mass range of 2,000 Daltonics.
These capabilities include positive and negative ion high-pressure chemical ionization, an increase in mass range to 1000 amu, an external ion source and "hybrid chemical ionization.
The new technique involves the use of high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) and mass spectrometry (MS).
Improvements also include a compact footprint to maximize laboratory bench space, the PreVent suite of column flow controls for increased uptime and productivity, and industry-leading sensitivity for both electronic ionization (EI) and chemical ionization (CI).
The TSQ Quantum Ultra has the addition of Thermo's new IonMax ionization source, which combines Atmospheric Pressure Chemical Ionization and Atmospheric Pressure Photoionization into a single unit.
This includes Agilent's proprietary multimode ion source, which is the only source on the market to provide simultaneous electrospray ionization (ESI) and atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) data.
