Although the Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (M-CHAT) is designed for use in children aged 18 months, it can be useful in children up to age 3 years who have developmental delays and in those up to age 5 who have impaired social skills, said Dr.
Suggested screens such as the Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (M-CHAT) or the Social Communication Questionnaire "are hard to infuse into clinical practice.
Screening can be incorporated fairly easily into the child's 18-month visit through use of the Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (CHAT).
