A comprehensive report was published by the Canadian Paediatric Society (CPS), Infectious Diseases and Immunization Committee, American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Committee on Infectious Diseases in 1997, which was reaffirmed in February 2003, in which they addressed meningococcal disease prevention and control strategies for practice-based physicians.
Even the Canadian Paediatric Society in its latest feeding statement acknowledges that women may want to breastfeed for two years or longer.
