In Massachusetts, one of the 27 states that currently maintain central registries of blood lead tests and report surveillance data to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Adult Blood Lead Epidemiology and Surveillance Program (5), construction workers accounted for 63% of 381 individuals identified with blood lead levels of 40 [micro]g/dL or higher (6).
