Byline: ANI Washington, Nov 6 (ANI): Scientists are reporting a new breakthrough in the ongoing battle against a fatal brain disease called adrenoleukodystrophy using gene therapy.
The boys, both seven when treatment began in France, are beset with X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy, or ALD, a hereditary brain disease that slowly strips away layers of fatty acids protecting nerve fibres in the brain.

Dr Ian Duncan's work has been centred around the revolutionary drug `Lorenzo's Oil', discovered by the parents of a six-year-old boy - called Lorenzo - who was diagnosed as suffering from the deadly disease adrenoleukodystrophy, ALD.
